Students engineer scale-model Truss Beam Bridges
Learning the fundamentals of bridge design, using geometric shapes, students create "blue prints" individually. Collectively, student engineers are teamed up and vote for their favorite design to be built, using 50 miniature wood beams, wood glue, and wood clippers.

Using a “structure crusher,” bridges are tested to see which holds the greatest amount of weight. The mass of the bridge is important, as the winning group will have to produce the strongest bridge compared to the weight of the bridge; known as the strength-to-weight ratio.
